Advantage Tutoring Process
1. Evaluate Student
Each plan begins with a thorough assessment of your child’s needs. This process includes interviews with you and your child and an evaluation of school records. Evaluations are done at the hourly rate for tutoring.
2. Develop a Plan
A plan is developed that respects your child’s unique strengths and weaknesses. Specially designed materials target weak areas. Coping strategies are taught that can be used in the regular classroom. These strategies take advantage of the child’s strengths. Feedback from the classroom teacher is used to make the process ongoing.
3. Consult with Teachers and Parents
You as a parent are a vital part of your child’s success. Both you and the classroom teacher have important information that will be used in planning lessons.
4. Implement the Plan with One-on-One Tutoring
Tutoring will focus on both remediation and current classwork material. Parents have the option of being included in the lesson
5. Send Materials Home with Child
These are fun activities at the student’s level. Materials are selected to address specific learning problems.
6. Track Progress
Evaluation is ongoing; you will receive feedback after every lesson. Additional testing can be arranged at the hourly rate for tutoring.
